Remote control apps akin to TeamViewer and those intended for educational purposes will drive the growth of augmented reality software in the years ahead. That’s according to a newly published industry report from ABI Research.
This British market analytics firm projects AR remote and training apps will boast 60 million users come 2025. Logistics, architecture, engineering and construction are expected to be the key sectors driving the growth of this emerging technologies. The final industry that is likely to be a significant growth factor of such AR solutions is healthcare, the company reports.
ABI Research estimates more companies will begin embracing both AR and VR as digital environments will allow them to save between $2,000 to $2,500 in training costs per employee compared to in-person seminars and other more conventional forms of getting new staffers up and running. And given the massive focus on work-from-home solutions stemming from everything that’s been happening lately, AR training and AR-enabled tech support is bound to grow exponentially in terms of both users and revenues, the report reads.
HTC, Facebook, Microsoft, and HP are among the select few companies standing to benefit from the development in an indirect manner – courtesy of the fact they’re one of only several manufacturers of contemporary AR and VR hardware targeted at enterprise customers.
