Overwatch is rolling out Cross-Play, allowing players to play with one another regardless of the platform. For the first time in the game’s history, players from across multiple platforms can now play with one another. Whether it is on a beefy PC or a shiny console, including the hybrid console Nintendo Switch.
Why Cross-Play?
Previously an experience that is exclusive among players on the same platform, Cross-Play is breaking the tradition. Accessibility that was made possible via an enhancement to the game’s Battle.net. All the players will need to enjoy the cross-platform capability is to sign up for their own unique Battle.net account. PC players will no longer need to register one, however, as they’re already registered to it by default. But home console owners, including Xbox users, definitely will still.
To come alongside the launch of Cross-Play, anyone who partakes in it will get a Golden Loot Box by the end of 2021 as a celebration.
How to Register for a Battle.net account and link it to a console?
To make a Battle.net account, simply visit the website itself, www.battle.net. Once registered, go to Account Settings and then to the ‘Connections’ option to link a console.
Launch Overwatch using a platform of choice. The player will be presented with an alphanumeric code and a QR code. The former can be entered at www.blizzard.com/link while the latter will require a mobile app to decipher. The latter will also lead to a page containing all the codes you have provided the game, thus far.
Then, log in to your account on the console to finalise the connection between the account and the console. A notification will pop from in-game, confirming the successful link.
