Mozilla Killing Flash Support

Mozilla has confirmed it will be following Adobe’s lead and completely shutter any support for Flash in its flagship Firefox Internet browser. According to an official press release that started circulating earlier today, support for the Adobe Flash ecosystem, on the whole, is set to end with Firefox release version 84. That would be the one that just hit alpha channel earlier this week, debuting as Firefox 84.0 Developer Edition.

A fully tested and optimized build 84.0 release is currently planned to start rolling out to all users internationally on December 15th. That part of the roadmap was already known, however, The main takeaway from today’s announcement, meanwhile entertainment TPU will stop updating the Flash tech framework on December 31st , much like it already announced several years ago.

The end-of-life to Mozilla’s first-party support for this multi-platform multimedia system is, therefore, hardly a surprise to anyone who has been paying anything resembling attention to either company in recent times. As a matter of fact, Mozilla will actually be outliving Adobe’s own support by nearly a month seeing how Firefox 85 is only scheduled to move to the stable channel on January 26th. And given the many uncertainties that have been affecting the majority of industries since the turn of the year,, minor delays are definitely plausible as of yet.
