Nokia 2.3 Pre-Orders Go Live

The Nokia 2.3 is now available to pre-buy from Best Buy in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. More retailers will follow shortly, according to HMD Global, the company behind post-Microsoft Nokia handsets.

Priced at $129, this is the second cheapest Nokia smartphone you can currently buy stateside. But that extra $30 goes a long way in the lower end of the mobile market. For example, this is a full-fledged smartphone with an equally complete version of Android (One, based on version 9.0 Pie) instead of a crippled automatron that is Android Go Edition.

It supports 2 Nano SIM cards, twice as much RAM at 2GB, a 60% higher battery capacity at 4,000mAh, and double the storage space, meaning 32GB of flash memory. OK, probably not flash-flash memory per se, as again, this is a phone that costs less than an Apple Pencil – which isn’t even a real pencil, by the way.

So, we should be happy its memory tech is more advanced than having someone shout reminders at you as even that theoretical assistant would probably charge per hour. And this thing doesn’t, which is amazing because only a few years ago, the wisest way to spend a $130 smartphone budget was to buy a battered 4-year-old flagship.

That’s how horrible entry-level handsets were, unlike the Nokia 2.3.
